Elstree & Borehamwood scaffolding

Scaffolding in Elstree & Borehamwood.

Planning work on a home or commercial property in Elstree or Borehamwood? Arkley Scaffolding can discuss access for roofing, exterior finishes, extensions and wider building work. Show us the work area, the space where scaffold may stand and how the trades plan to use it.

The whole job

Describe every stage of building work

Elstree and Borehamwood share a town council, but each property has its own access needs. Start with the actual address and describe the full programme: roof repairs, an extension, work to several elevations or a sequence of trades. A scaffold planned for one task may not give the next contractor the access they need.

Ask each roofer, builder or painter which faces and heights they need to reach, and in what order. For roof-led work, see our roofing scaffolding guide; for the finish itself, use the painting and rendering guide.

Need a trade?

Where a suitable contact is available, Arkley can introduce a trusted roofer, builder or painter. Agree the work and terms directly with that trade.

Ground and boundaries

Show where scaffold could stand

Photograph the front, rear and sides that need access, then show the ground below them. Include gates, driveways, side passages, changes in level and anything that might affect deliveries or assembly. Wider views are more useful than a close-up that hides the route to the work area.

If a likely position crosses a neighbour’s land or shared space, flag it early and confirm the relevant owner’s agreement before dates are fixed. The preparation guide has more practical prompts.

Public space

Check private ground and highway use separately

Hertsmere is the borough council here, while Hertfordshire County Council publishes the scaffold licence route for scaffold on a public road, verge or pavement. Identify the proposed position before treating a start date as settled. If it would project over the highway, ask the highway authority what approval applies.

Tell us if an entrance, footway, loading space or parking area could be affected. Agree who will arrange any needed permission for the specific site. The permits guide explains the questions to settle.

First enquiry

Send details that shape the scope

  1. The full postcode and the planned roof, building or exterior work.
  2. Which elevations each trade needs and their likely order.
  3. Photos of the work faces, ground, entrances and delivery approach.
  4. Approximate dates and any known boundary or access constraints.

Our costs guide explains why scope, position and duration can affect a quote.

Questions

Planning your Elstree & Borehamwood job

Can we ask about several parts of one building at once?

Yes. Describe the roof, elevations and later work together, even if dates are provisional. It helps the access discussion cover the complete programme.

Does work beside a pavement always need a licence?

The proposed position matters. Hertfordshire County Council says scaffold on a public road, verge or pavement needs a licence. Ask the authority about any other effect on public space.
